Jeffery Deitch - Post Human Exhibit Returns

Jeffery Deitch - Post Human Exhibit Returns

Credited by many for introducing posthumanism to popular culture, art dealer and curator Jeffery Deitch reintroduces his 1992 Post Human exhibit in Los Angeles.

With a clear emphasis on technology and how we as humans interact with it - Deitch's exhibit nudges consumers to think outside of the status quo and question the irrationality behind modern culture.

Throughout the exhibit, viewers can find portraits of some of our greatest artists like Whitney Houston and Elton John while also being tugged into the forthcoming with futuristic pieces like the half woman - half robot and human-like creatures with three legs.

"When I'm outside and alone, 9 times out of 10, I'll be wearing earphones. I was working on La Brea and happened to pass the exhibit. I went inside with my earphones in and had to laugh at the irony. The exhibit was clearly speaking to the intermingling of human life, technology, and how enmeshed we've become. I had to take my earphones out and that's when I really got to ingest the art. I mean it's symbolic of the exhibit - unplug. That's when I realized how impactful the pieces were. The touches of silver throughout the exhibit was something that my artistic side really appreciated too. Since that first visit, I've been back to the exhibit about 5 more times and each time I see a piece little differently. These type of exhibits and displays of art really inspire me. The mediums artists and curators use to express their message is a unique thing to observe." - Founder Brandon Love (B. Love) recalls visiting the exhibit.
